Our Tennis Courts
The Mgarr Tennis Club is equipped with newly resurfaced full-size concrete tennis court and mini tennis court. Possibly the mini tennis court is one of a very few in Malta, if not the only one of its kind and is ideal for kids and beginners. The full-size concrete tennis court has additional clear space around the court for players to reach overrun balls.
Both courts are equipped with adequate lighting which ensures good visibility enabling both participants and spectators to follow the progress of a game.
The two courts are separated by a wall which can be easily used as a practice wall to help both beginners and the more experienced tennis players improve tennis control. Both courts are surrounded with a three storey high wired fence to help avoid balls going outside of the court confines. Two concrete steps located along both courts provide ample space for spectators to watch their idols/friends/family members play tennis.
The Mgarr Tennis Club is also equipped with a club house which provides shower facilities and toilets for players in case of need.
Concrete courts – The concrete court (aka Hard Courts) is normally considered by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) as suitable for all types of players as it provides a good compromise between the Grass Courts and Clay Courts and is thus termed as a “Democratic Court”. This provides players favouring various styles of play, from the Serve and Volley player to a Baseliner, thus providing an even playing field. Experts have express opinions that the concrete courts favour players with a good serve as the surface is still considered generally fast and base line players (players who enjoy long rallies) as the bounce of the ball is high and predictable.
The court can be booked by members of the tennis club and are subject to the terms and conditions for the use of the courts.
